Product Description
Mix an acid and a base together, and they neutralize each other. Fundamentally this is because the hydronium ions from the acid and the hydroxide ions from the base combine to form water, the neutral substance. This PowerPoint presentation explains the chemistry of neutralization, first by examining it as a double replacement reaction, and then by identifying the spectator ions to show that the net ionic equation always results in the formation of water.
