Product Description

Student investigate which antacid is the most effective in neutralizing hydrochloric acid. This lab is set up in the ADI style, but simplified to be more accessible to my on-level 10th grade chemistry students.

Day 1: Background, Pre-Lab & Write Procedure (25%)

Day 2: Complete the lab & collect data (25%)

Day 3: Poster (25%) - group assignment

Day 4: Lab Report (25%) - individual assignment

For this lab you will need 1.0 M HCl, Universal indicator (or pH probes), Alka-selzer, Tums, Rolaids, Gavison and Baking Soda (or other antacids, white tablets work better). You could also use a mortar and pestle to grind the antacids, but it's not required.

I use this as a Google Doc, have students make a copy and share with their group and me. This Word document is editable : )
