Never Mail an Elephant Activity
This book is SO, SO FUNNY! “You can mail a postcard. You can mail a letter. You can even mail a present. But-never mail an elephant!” The illustrations demonstrate how difficult it really would be to mail an elephant. After reading the story, I ask my students what else would be difficult to mail! They have fun and are so creative coming up with some really big animals and other objects. While the ideas are still fresh in their heads, I send them off to create their own page for “Never Mail a (an) ____________________!” Of course, they illustrate how difficult it would be!! It is also a great teaching moment for the use of “a” verses “an.” I have my students circle the “a” or the “”an” according to which they think they should use for their sentence.
We combine all the pages to make a class book that the students read over and over again! I make a cover, laminate all the pages, hole punch them and attach them with binder rings.
If you like this download, I would REALLY, REALLY, REALLY appreciate a rating from you! (Did I mention a rating would be appreciated?)
Thank you and have fun sending imaginary LARGE packages with your students!!!
