My daughter's words inspired me to make this art.
Here is the story:
For the first time in many moons, I rode a bike today. I didn't ride it very far, but the distance was challenging nevertheless. I had a "turn around" point in mind and the getting there was better than the getting home. Sweet Gigi followed in my path on her own bike. She had yet to master the turning around. I reached our turning point and here she came, almost in tears, determined that she could NOT turn her bike around. She just knew she was going to fall. But I cheered her on, "Come on, Gigi! You can do it! Don't stop! You can do it!" And she did it! Yay! We cheered ourselves on as we pedaled back home. I was in the lead and just minutes after telling her, "Don't give up!", I was in near tears from pedaling up two hills. I heard Gigi in the distance. I heard her singing something softly. She told me, "Keep going, Mom!" And I knew that I had to keep going. I couldn't quit. Finally, I coasted into the driveway. My little red house never looked so good. Honestly, I wanted to cry. I climbed the stairs. My legs were jello. "Water," I croaked. "Let's get some water." Gigi said she would love some water, since a bug had landed in her mouth. After we had quenched our thirst, she said, "I wrote a song. And it's called, 'Never stop your wheels.' It's about not giving up." So I pass this on to you, Moms who have their own Sweet Gigis that are watching them: Never stop your wheels! Never give up! Encourage your children, and they will in turn encourage you.
