Nevermoor: The Trials of Morrigan Crow is an engaging fantasy novel with plenty to discuss! Discussion Questions, Guidelines, Phrases, and Book Mark Party Favors are included for this fun novel. Book clubs are an amazing tool to engage all of your students. Especially, your reluctant readers!
Last year, I implemented book clubs in my sixth grade classroom. My students LOVED them. I would assign a book, and everyone would have two weeks to complete it on their own (I allowed Audible for some of my struggling readers). Then, we'd meet and have our discussion.
I started out using the Socratic Seminar method, but eventually modified it, so that our discussions felt less formal. My Discussion Guidelines & Phrases are included. I was a stickler for the rules at the beginning, and eventually I didn't need to remind them anymore.
Book clubs became such an event in our classroom that I had students (that "hated" reading) arguing over who would get to host the next one. Children love to talk and to have parties, so I just made our celebrations revolve around book discussion.
The Nevermoor: Trials of Morrigan Crow Book Club Questions were used for a summer biweekly bookclub that I hosted for 9-12 year olds. In addition to the book club questions, I've included some decor idea photos and a printout that can be used to make book marks as party favors.
