New Pathways - Activities and Ideas to Engage At-Risk Students in Mathematics

New Pathways - Activities and Ideas to Engage At-Risk Students in Mathematics
Product Description
The 32 activities in this booklet are intended to offer at-risk students the opportunity to experience mathematics from a different perspective than from a traditional curriculum. Furthermore, they encourage teachers to become active participants in the education of these often neglected students. Teacher guides, which are included in this booklet for each activity, indicate the level of mathematics that is needed, identify an appropriate time frame necessary to complete the activity, and supply information to help the instructor provide a meaningful experience for students.

The eight sections that each have 4 activities include:
1) Number Sense
2) Linear Measurements
3) Angular Measurements
4) Constructions
5) Probability
6) Coordinate Plane
7) Mathematics in Art
8) Extended Activities

This booklet became available in 2006 and consists entirely of successful activities that I developed for at-risk students in our high school and alternate school.
