Happy New Year 2018 Mini Book with Teaching Posters

I created this Happy New Year Mini Book and Teaching Posters with the idea that my students would work in partners to complete it. I want them to share their New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day experiences. I figured by working in partners, they would remember better as they began talking about it. Next I would have them share in front of the class the part they like the best about their experience.

8 Teaching Posters (4-New Year's Eve, 3-New Year's Day, 1-New Year's Resolutions

Steps:

• Step One: New Year’s Eve - Use the 3 POSTERS to explain that New Year’s Eve is the last day before the New Year starts. It is December 31st. Ask students to share customs and traditions for this day.

Included in the New Year's Eve Poster "Singing" is a link to the song Auld Lang Syne

• Step Two: New Year’s Day – Use the poster to explain that New Year’s Day is the first day of the brand new year. It is January 1st.
Ask students to share customs and traditions for this day.
Included in the New Year's Eve Poster, "Countdown" is a link to Dick Clark's Rockin' Eve Ball Drop.

• Step Three: Resolutions – Show the poster and discuss New Year’s Resolutions and why people make them. Share a resolution that you have made and discuss appropriate resolutions for them.

Step Four: Mini Book - Pass out the Mini Books.
Students will work with a partner and discuss their New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day events. They will share their Resolutions and write about them in their books.

You could do all of the steps in one day or split them up over 2 -4 days.
