Happy New Years 2021! New Year's Traditions and customs, and writing practice making resolutions. These fun New Year activities are great to use the first day back from break and at the Chinese New Year.

First, there is a Happy New Year poster for your door or use it as notebook cover for their writing assignments. There is also a slide for you to project on your whiteboard and a quarter-fold card. I have included a handout (in two different styles for your printing options.) with New Years customs around the world. This is a good reading assignment to give them as they walk in the door. I have included two different quizzes or quick comprehension checks with keys. One is on a full size paper and one is made two per page to save paper. They are different, so you can use one as a make-up assignment or a retake if necessary.

After they read about the traditions, you might want to have them write about the way they celebrate the new year with their family and if they have any traditions of their own. Also, they may be interested in choosing a country to research. I have included a writing sheet to write about personal New Year traditions, a New Years Resolutions sheet, a New Year goals sheet, a New Year Research snapshot, and a word search activity just for fun (available separately in my store, but a better deal to get it here).

For the Chinese New Year, I have included another poster for your door or notebook cover, and a handout explaining the Chinese New Year. There is also another handout with More New Year Traditions you can use for enrichment. Good for first day back from break and as a follow up to Christmas Around the World unit. Fun and interesting New Years activities you can use every year. Since it is not year specific, it will work every New Year, New Year‘s 2021, and beyond. 20 pages.

Digital and Print: I have also made an Easel Activity all ready to go for distance learning with a digital pen tool, highlighter, and text boxes for students to type their answers. It is an Interactive layer over the original pdf to use on the TPT platform. You assign it online via Google Classroom. Click here to learn more if you want to understand how Easel Activities work. You can select the pages you want and add your own directions or notes! This is helpful for remote teaching. Access on the product page or in My Purchases after purchase. 31 total pages with 11 digital pages.
