I love discussing goals with my students by using single, powerful goals. For example, if our word is challenge, think of how many ways we can use and demonstrate that word. We can challenge ourselves to read more, we can challenge ourselves to push through the math problem.
This New Year's, I wanted to focus our resolutions around one key word. First, you and your students will fill in an anchor chart in which you brainstorm positive character traits or verbs (kind, positive, read, exercise, responsibility) etc. Then, they choose one word they would like to focus on and fill in the flipbook. The flipbook has room to define the word, write examples and non examples of it, make connections, discuss why it's important, write sentences that show ways in which you will demonstrate this word, discuss how you will do more of this word, and finally draw a picture.
In the end it's a fun flipbook to hang up, and a great reminder to your students to focus on their goal word!
I hope you and your students enjoy this as much as mine did! If you have any questions or concerns, please email me at LParra0307@gmail.com.
