In this activity students will interpret authentic tweets with the hashtag #propositos2018. There are two versions; one that contains more open-ended questions and space for responses for upper levels and a second version that provides sentence starters and statements with blanks for lower levels.
In the activity, students will decide if the New Years resolution applies to them and then answer follow-up questions about the tweets to analyze themselves in 2017 and changes they may want to make for 2018. I typically use the questions to guide class conversations but they can easily be assigned for a writing extension activity or homework. Topics include anything from goals students have that are school-related, to what they are saving money for, where they want to travel to in 2018, and what t.v shows they would like to watch. This is the perfect activity for after a long Christmas break!
