This lesson allows you to continue teaching your reading AND language arts curriculum while incorporating it into New Year's. Furthermore, while teaching your reading and language arts skills, your students will also read a variety of interesting facts about this holiday. In addition to reading and writing activities, there are also social studies research assignments too!
You will receive two different pages of Fact and Opinion questions, three pages on author's purpose, two pages on main idea, two pages on figurative language, one page on verbs, one page on adjectives and nouns, a Calendars Comparison Chart, a two page New Year's Comparison Chart, a New Year's Celebration worksheet that each student can complete for a different country, a New Year's resolution page, a list of other writing and reading activities you can do, and a two page character education lesson that relates to an actual book with a related trait to the holiday. The character education lesson will provide you with questions to ask directly about the book (not included), questions to reflect upon about the trait, and other reading and language arts activities about this character trait.
