The Beetle Box Newcomer stories are specially created for students new to speaking English. Our target student speaks, reads and writes in their home language with some level of proficiency, and are now in the beginnings of full integration into an English speaking school/classroom. They are on the path to learning English to proficiency, at the early stages.


Our targeted teacher is the teacher who wishes to enhance their students' English vocabulary and word knowledge, while having serious fun. This may be a dedicated language teacher, resource teacher, reading specialist, or classroom teacher.

Each story download includes:

  • 4 Specific target structures (classroom Word-Wall plaques to cut-out & teach with)
  • A compelling story with the targeted structures authentically embedded.
  • Printable student word tiles for a 'New English Words' books.
  • Printable activities for teacher/student use.
  • Comprehension questions, and retelling activities for an authentic formative or summative assessment.
  • Various other classroom activities and printable props for an engaging language experience.
