Product Description
Use this resource to teach students the following news report features:
- basic: headline (strapline), byline, lead, hook, photographs, captions, quotes and inset quotes, facts and statistics.
- advanced: passive voice, emotive language.
- structure: inverted pyramid structure, body, short paragraphing.

Each feature includes a simple definition and questions for students to answer as they read and analyse their own news report of their choice.

Six basic features are listed as separate definition cards for printing as flashcards and poster labels (see preview).

Teaching suggestions:
-cut up each feature as a laminated flash card for reuse
-create stations for groups of students to rotate through labeling a feature at each station
-project the labelled example news report so students can look on the projector for help
