Product Description
This newsletter, based on images found on first day covers - envelopes with commemorative stamps, appropriate postmark and artwork, looks at Emancipation Proclamation and the 13th Amendment. Students use their social studies skills to analyze the images and teachers can use the discussion questions to help students understand why the 1863 executive proclamation was not
as powerful as the 13th Amendment. Print off the newsletter and put on bulletin board to generate student interest, or use in small group settings to allow for student interaction and discussion.
