This is a reproducible handout or packet of information teachers can give to students for an engaging Newsletter assignment.
This handout gives project requirements and background information for how to write a newsletter. Students will work collaboratively to come up with a theme or subject for the newsletter. Then, they will compose 4 or 5 short expository or research pieces to include in the newsletter.
This assignment encourages students to work together to produce a finished product. Students can use the Microsoft Publisher software to learn how to set up a basic newsletter or use the column feature in Microsoft word to complete the project.
This assignment can be used in a Language Arts, Creative Writing, Social Studies, History or Science class as an evaluation piece after students study a subject, period of history or chapter unit. This type of project is perfect for teachers who want to incorporate more technology into the classroom. Students may also use basic graphic design or layout techniques to complete the project.
This assignment can be modified to suit grades 7-12.
