This EDITABLE lab includes 8 stations at which students investigate different every-day examples of Inertia, F=ma, and momentum with a different perspective. Students are asked to make observations with different variables, analyze these observations and explain which Law of Newton is being represented with this experiment. Teacher needs to simply set up the stations and have the students rotate.
I have uploaded this in both a PDF and a .docx format, so you can feel free to modify and differentiate to fit your classroom and students' needs. Enjoy!
NGSS HS-PS2-1. Analyze data to support the claim that Newton’s second law of motion describes the mathematical relationship among the net force on a macroscopic object, its mass, and its acceleration.
NGSS HS-PS2-2. Use mathematical representations to support the claim that the total momentum of a system of objects is conserved when there is no net force on the system.
Materials Needed include:
Cars or other objects to slide across a table
