This 32 card set is arranged 4 to a page with both multiple choice and discussion questions on all three of Newton's laws of motion.
Appropriate for a physical science class or a first year physics class. For instance, I currently teach in a district that teaches physics to all high school freshmen; I use these task cards with them but I would feel fine about using them with a traditional first year HS physics class as well. They are versatile because you can alter your expectations for the depth of explanations, depending on your student's abilities.
Great for extra practice, review, a quick bell-ringer, or for differentiation at a station. I've also used them in game-type settings with the whole class in groups and as an informal formative assessment. Gets my students away from worksheets that can get monotonous or be overwhelming and "chunks" out the work. The questions are also a great way to get academic discourse going with small groups - give them a task card and ask them to come up with the answer and explain to the class.
Some of the questions are very straight forward, requiring only that the students understand the law of motion well enough to predict an outcome. The discussion questions will push your students a bit further and ask them to not only predict an outcome based on the given information, but to also justify their answer in terms of Newton's laws. I will often ask students to do the same with the multiple choice questions - ensuring that they aren't just guessing. :)
Included is an answer sheet and a key in the same form as the answer sheet.
Full color cards with graphics on most cards - print them once in color, laminate them and get years of use out of them!
