Next Dollar (Dollar Up) Draw: Level One (Prices up to 20 Dollars) has been designed with the intention of helping special needs students gain confidence estimating (by rounding up to the nearest whole number) the correct sum to pay for their purchases. Optimized for group instruction this lesson can be modified in a variety of ways for essential repetitious independent practice. The ability to accurately pay for a purchase is an invaluable skill your special needs students will be able to take with them their entire life.

1 Blank Next Dollar Practice worksheet (Page 3).
5 Print and Go Next Dollar Practice Worksheets (Pages 4-8).
80 Money Cards with Prices up to 20 Dollars (Pages 9-18).
Step 1: Print Money Cards (Pages 4-13).
Step 2: Laminate Money Cards (Optional but HIGHLY recommended!).
Step 3: Cut out Money Cards along dotted lines.
Step 4: Print or copy enough Next Dollar Practice worksheets (Page 3) for all students.
Step 5: PLAY!
How to Play:
Mix Money Cards up. Have students take turns randomly picking a price from the Money Cards and rounding price up to the nearest whole dollar. For example, a price of $5.75 rounds up to $6. To enhance instruction have students count out next dollar amount using play money (not included). Students practice writing down prices and next dollar equivalents on Next Dollar Practice worksheet. Number line on Next Dollar Practice worksheet can be used to aid students in selecting appropriate next dollar amount and counting. Print and Go Next Dollar Worksheets included to give students a chance for independent practice.
