This product is an excellent tool to use when teaching the Next Generation Science Standards. It is a step by step process specifically structured using the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) as the guideline.
This package enables the teacher to integrate each standard into a scientific investigation using the scientific method which is emphasized in the NGSS. Included in this package is an interactive poster of the scientific method which is accompanied by pre-made inquiries and solutions (hypothesis) statements for all the standards. Each inquiry and its respective hypothesis statement is designed to satisfy a particular standard. They are identified by the performance expectation codes (i.e., K-PS1-1), which also identifies the individual standards.
Teachers may introduce the topic, then present the inquiry/questions to the students using the poster and pre-made inquiry. The class can discuss the inquiry and formulate a hypothesis after the research step, as indicated by the next step on the poster. The matching pre-made hypothesis (identified by the performance code) can then be attached to the poster in the proper blank space. The teacher can complete the investigation as a class or break students up into groups. The investigation is completed using the applicable Ready Set Let’s Grow investigational activity (again identified by the performance code). This product aids students in learning the required science standards in a fun and hands-on manner.
The performance expectation code is a wonderful aspect of these products because it can be used to match the inquiry and hypothesis statements with the corresponding standards and the Ready Set Let’s Grow (RSLG) investigations. All Ready Set Let’s Grow products use the performance code to identify the corresponding standard and are designed using the NGSS.
