Book clubs can be a great, enjoyable, and meaningful experience for students but a lot of work for teachers! I have enjoyed running many book clubs in my classroom and have found that it really gets students interested in reading and also works on their cooperative as well as independent work skills.
This is one of my favorite book clubs! Students have a hard time putting it down and waiting for the next mission. It includes a teacher's guide, student discussion questions, vocabulary list, comprehension activities, and creative writing. It also includes related science experiments and hands-on extension activities. I like how much content it incorporates and initially used it as part of a middle school science unit on weather and now use it as part of language arts.
