I developed this project about the Nile River for an Ancient Egypt RAFT activity. I specifically made it for my students who had difficulty creating a project on their own. It provides scaffolding so they can demonstrate why the Nile was so important to the Egyptians.
Students can describe how the Nile provided water for drinking, irrigation and transportation. The flooding provided silt that enriched the soil and made it possible to grow many crops. They caught fish, birds and other animals for food and used papyrus to create a form of paper. In general, the Nile made it possible to create a thriving Egyptian civilization in the middle of a desert.
