You will find the following 9 activities:

Main and Helping Verbs– pages 3-10 - Write the verb phrase on your recording sheet. Underline the helping verb.

Prepositions– pages 11-18 - Write the prepositional phrase on your recording sheet. Underline the preposition.

Punctuating Dialogue– pages 19-24 - Write the sentence on your recording sheet. Next, add the missing punctuation marks to each sentence. Then underline the exact words of the speaker.

Adverbs– pages 25-32 - Write the verb on your recording sheet. Then write the adverb that describes the verb. Underline the verb.

Irregular Verbs– pages 33 - 42 - Lay out the header cards, present, present participle, past, and past participle. Place the irregular verbs under the correct header.

Fact or Opinion– pages 43-55 - Lay out the header cards, fact and opinion. Read each card and decide if the sentence is a fact or an opinion. Place the card under the correct header.

Cause and Effect– pages 51-57 - Decide if the underlined words identify the cause or the effect of the sentence.

Persuasive Writing– pages 58-64 - Choose a persuasive card. Complete the graphic organizer for your argument. Then write your persuasive argument on the paper that is provided.

Idioms-pages 65-77 - Lay out the idiom cards so that you can see them all. Match the correct idiom card to its meaning. Then use the idiom in a sentence.

Student directions, answer keys, and student recording sheets are included with the exception of the persuasive writing activity.
