Where’s Leonardo?

Watch Out for Shredder!
This is a game to play with a small group to help children learn their multiplication facts. It is a great activity for intervention teachers to use and it can also be sent home for parents to play with their child. This Ninja Turtle game is a great way to get boys excited about learning math facts! Girls will love it too!

If you are teaching math facts the children don’t know, pick about 8 math facts or whatever you think your kids can handle to play the game. Also, include some facts they do know. Print each of these fact cards 3 times on cardstock and laminate them. Copy the special cards on cardstock and laminate them too.

If you are wanting to review all multiplication facts, print all of the cards that you want to review. Just make sure you have about 30 cards to play the game.

Children will take turns drawing cards. They will give the answer to the multiplication fact and keep the card. If they can’t give the answer, they are told. They then look at the equation and give the answer. I let my children keep the card the first time we play the game. The 2nd time we play it they discard the card if they can’t give the answer. We play the game at least 2 times in math stations. If they draw a special card, they do as it says. The child with the most cards after all cards are drawn is the winner.

Special Cards:
Shredder! Oh NO! All your cards must GO!
Pizza! Yay! Take a card from all today!
Turtle Power! Take 2!

Where’s Leonardo?
Place 8 – 10 equation cards in a pocket chart. Hide the Leonardo card behind one of the equations. The children will guess where Leonardo is by giving the answer to the equation that they think Leonardo is behind. Children will keep guessing until Leonardo is found.
