What should be Richard Nixon's legacy as President?

What would happen if Henry Kissinger, Chinese Premier Chou En-lai, Leonid Brezhnev, Spiro Agnew, Watergate Prosecutor Archibald Cox, civil rights leaders, economic leaders, and even Nixon himself had a debate on Nixon's accomplishments and crimes?

Your students will get the chance to find out by performing the role of a person close to the Nixon administration. Each role will also have two "brains" to help them answer questions throughout the debate. All students must complete background research before the debate, and a self reflection after the debate. Students love the format of this debate because they have teammates ("the brains") to help them during questioning. I like this debate because it forces students to consider a variety of perspectives and reflect on their own learning.

Included in documents
-Debate instructions, rules, and moderator questions
-Student Self Reflection

**Debate instructions include information specific to research using the TCI textbook "Pursuing American Ideals." Instructions can easily be modified to online research by taking out reference to TCI textbook.
