In this activity, learners work in groups to solve proportional relationship challenge problems. The answers to these challenge problems yield a recipe to no-bake monster cookies! Once they have checked with the teacher that their recipe is correct, they may then make the cookies! This kinesthetic activity allows learners to see how proportional relationships are used in the real-world. Who hasn’t sliced a recipe in half or in fourths to accommodate a smaller group of guests, or doubled or even tripled a batch for a big family get together? This activity motivates learners to work together (they want to be the first to make those cookies!). Great discussions are had, and the whole activity is engaging and fun!
