I love to read the "No, David!" series to my Kindergarteners in the beginning of the school year to talk about making good choices and bad choices. Here's an extension activity you can complete after reading the series.
Prompt the children to describe "David" WITHOUT using the words "good" or "bad" (i.e. silly, funny, happy, curious, lovable, sad, etc). Record their responses on a chart paper/brainstorming list/anchor chart. Then, prompt the students to use one of the descriptive words from the chart paper/brainstorming list/anchor chart to complete the sentence, "David was..." by drawing a picture of David and labeling it in the "David" column. Then, prompt the students to describe themselves and complete the sentence "I am..." by drawing and labeling a picture in the "I am..." column.
Have fun! Hope your kiddies enjoy it!
