File includes a single lesson plan and three writing frames based on No, David! by David Shannon. The different frames can be used either with different grade levels or to differentiate the assignment for your students. One has sentence beginnings included on primary writing lines, one has blank primary writing lines, and one has normal writing lines.
After reading the book, each student creates a page for a class book about what David might do if he visited their library or classroom. The lesson plan includes ideas for extending the lesson and links to other resources.
When I've done this activity with students, we publish our work by making a video of each student reading their page aloud to share with families. I've included a short explanation of how I create those videos, and a link to the open-source (free) screen recording software I use. The students usually get a big kick out of seeing the finished video.
