    THE ESCAPE ROOMS INCLUDED:

    • Escape the Maze- Students will have a Maze paper with four locks to ‘open’. They will complete 4 tasks. Each task will lead to a clue word. When the clue word is shown to you, students will be given a single math problem. The correct answer to the math problem lets the team pass through one of the ‘locks’ on the maze. After getting through the last lock the team has escaped the maze. Tasks include a letter maze, a pattern maze, a secret code message, and a synonym word search.
    • Escape the North Pole - Students will complete 4 tasks. Each task will lead to an answer- either a number or words. When the answer is shown to you, students have unlocked that task and will be awarded a 'cookie'. The paper cookies are included in this resource (but feel free to substitute with real ones!) After getting through the last task the team has escaped the North Pole. Tasks include a logic puzzle, using idioms, a map grid, and converting expanded numbers to standard form.
    • Escape the Library - Students will complete 4 tasks. Each task will lead to an answer- either a number, symbols, or words. When the answer is shown to you, students have unlocked that task and will be awarded by having a spot on the team's Library Card marked or punched. After getting through the last task the team has escaped the Library. Tasks include determining character, setting, or plot, determining genre of samples given, use of figurative language, and alphabetizing.
    • Escape the Blizzard - Students will complete 4 tasks. Each task will lead to an answer- either a number, symbols, or words. When the answer is shown to you, students have unlocked that task and will be awarded a snowflake. After getting through the last task the team has Escaped the Blizzard. Tasks include two math tasks, determining categories of given topics, and a secret code message.
    • Escape the Principal's Office- Students will complete 4 tasks. Each task will lead to a word clue. When the answer is shown to you, students have unlocked that task and will be awarded a mark on their Pencil Scorecard. After getting through the last task the team has Escaped the Office. Tasks include the use of irregular verbs, homophones, math problems, and identifying countries on a world map.
    • Escape the Candy Factory - Students will complete 4 tasks. Each task will lead to a number or word clue. When the answer is shown to you, students have unlocked that task and will be awarded a mark on their factory tour ticket. After getting through the last task the team has Escaped the Candy Factory.
    • Escape the Rainbow - Students will complete 4 tasks. Each task will lead to a number or word clue. When the answer is shown to you, students have unlocked that task and will be awarded a mark on their Lucky Strip. After getting through the last task the team has Escaped the Rainbow. Will they find a pot of gold?
    • Escape the Game - Students will complete 4 tasks. Each task will lead to a number or word clue. When the answer is shown to you, students have unlocked that task and will be awarded a basketball card. After getting through the last task the team has Escaped the Game.
    • Escape and Help the Environment - Students complete four tasks that all connect to Earth Day. After completing a task the team has 'escaped' and they earn an Earth Day bookmark.
    • Escape the School - It is the last day of school. The students discover that they are locked in the building. The only way out is to start in one corner of the building and work through a maze as they pass through several rooms. Students will use a map of the school maze as they travel. At some of the rooms, teams must complete a task before continuing. In those rooms, the teacher checks their work and marks their map. When they have earned four marks they have Escaped the School!
    • Escape the Water Park - Students are visiting a Water Park with many other attractions. They travel through the park with a Water Park Maze. They must complete four tasks to escape, earning a hole punched on their team ticket after each task is completed. Tasks include a logic puzzle, math, reading passage and comprehension questions, and grammar/spelling.

    THE STEM CHALLENGES

Each of the STEM Challenges was chosen to accompany the Escape Room. Each of the challenges has similar features.

    • cover
    • teacher background
    • materials and preparation page
    • 2-6 pages of teacher directions
    • constraints list
    • 2-4 pages of photographs
    • Extra Hints page
    • student lab sheet –with sample answers
    • scoring rubric
    • editable forms file

    The STEM Challenges included:

    • Build a Paper Plate Maze ( included with Escape the Maze) - Students build a paper plate marble maze using paper and tape.
    • Cookie Packages STEM Challenge (included with Escape the North Pole) - Students design and create a cookie package that can withstand being dropped without breaking the cookies.
    • Spider Cages STEM Challenge (included with Escape the Library) - Students build a spider cage that will safely transport plastic spiders ( one task within the escape room uses examples from Charlotte's Web).
    • Build a Snowman STEM Challenge (included with Escape the Blizzard) - Students build a snowman model using paper and tissue.
    • Build a Pencil Box STEM Challenge (included with Escape the Principal's Office) - Students build a pencil box that will hold a specific number of pencils and remain closed (in the escape room students earn the escape using a pencil scorecard).
    • Build a Popcorn (or Candy) Container (included with Escape the Candy Factory) - students will design and construct a container for a specific amount of popcorn or candy. Students will have a list of the Design “rules” and a set of supplies from which to build. The final design will test their understanding of volume and at the same time have them collaborating, designing, and constructing. In the end, each team will present their final container! A BONUS File is included specifically for the Candy Container.
    • Design a Container (included with The Escape The Rainbow) -This challenge features the task of using given supplies to design and build a container. Students test their containers by adding pennies as weights! A BONUS file is included for using with the Rainbow Escape Room. It includes directions and forms for building a Pot of Gold.
    • Build a Basketball Goal (included with Escape the Game) - In this challenge, students will design and build a basketball goal that must be the correct size to allow a ping pong ball to pass through the hoop. They will also create a device that will shoot the ball.
    • Bottle Flipping Challenge (included with Escape and Help the Environment) - students complete experiments flipping different sizes of bottles and then design their own version after analyzing the collected data. After the challenge recycle the bottles!
    • Dream House Challenge (included with Escape the School) - students will work individually to draw the design for the floor plan of their dream home. There are some specific directions to follow and certain rooms that are required. Students can also add their own fantastic rooms - as long as they still remain within the task constraints. As they complete the design students will also note the area of each room and finally the total area of the whole house.
    • Water Slides Challenge (included with Escape the Water Park) - students will be using materials to plan a design and then construct a working water slide that will transport a toy figure down the slide- without leaking water. The main materials for the slide part are not waterproof so students will have to plan ahead for how to line their slide so it won’t spill water. The slide must also resemble a slide, have a turn in it, and have an access point- like a ladder.

STEM Challenges will need an additional 30-60 minutes to complete.

UPDATES: I do have plans to add to this bundle occasionally with no specific dates in mind. The price will increase with each update! Grab it now and future additions will be yours at no extra cost. Hint: Look for Escape from Mars soon!
