Product Description
This product has been created to help your students improve their writing style and voice when using dialogue in their fictional pieces of writing.

Too often, students rely on the simple verb ‘said’ when writing narratives. While there will be many occasions where ‘said’ is suitable, there will be just as many occasions where an alternative verb is a far better choice.

This product is intended to give your students practice in using alternative verbs to the verb ‘said’, while making their writing more interesting. As a result, teachers will hopefully see a reduction in the usage of ‘said’ and an increase in more descriptive verbs such as ‘murmured’, ‘howled’, and ‘wept’.

A placemat is included that features 60 verbs to replace ‘said’ and has been created for you to print and share with your students.
