This activity is meant as a warm up for the morning. Students practice different concepts and Skills such as being exposed to print, reading, writing, practicing letter formation, sound recognition, learning to follow directions and practicing number formation.
How to Use:
First the class, individual or group of students listen to you read.
Next students read with you and fill in the blanks date as you read along.
Next, students circle which specialist they will attend today ( P.E, Music, or Library), Then students move on to number formation. Each page has a focus number, students trace, write, count, and build their numbers 0-20.
With the teen numbers students build their teen numbers and decompose by figuring out the missing number to make a teen number.
Next Students practice their sight words, by first circling the sight word anywhere they find it on the page.
Next, students trace and write the focus sight word.
Last students find and color the focus sight word.
If students are done I have them write the focus sight word/number on the remaining white spaces left on the paper, I also have them practice write the number of the date they wrote in the blank above as they wait for their peers to finish up.
You may differentiate as you see fit and the above instructions are not the only way to go about this activity. It can also be used during a center or with a group of students. The idea is students will gradually reach a time where they will not need your assistance and they will be able to complete this on their own.
