This unit is a set of 12 one page sight word stories that have a Spring Theme. As a kindergarten teacher, I have used these during my RTI time and during my Reader's Workshop time to help support my young readers at various levels. Kids will first explore the stories looking for sight words, tell the story using the pictures, use their letter knowledge and reading strategies to explore those unknown words and finally, they will attempt to read. When the kids feel that they are ready they can read to a friend and to a teacher. I have even backed the stories on construction paper and laminated in order to put the stories in my classroom library and my reread tubs to use during small group instruction and independent reading time. These are even great to use with parent helpers for tutoring sessions
The unit includes:
-12 student readers
-12 running record sheets to go with each reader
-story to copy/laminate and put in a reread tub, classroom library or to use during a read to teacher/tutor session. A few of the stories come in color and B&W.
-popcorn sight word cards to go along with each reader
- 3 Sight word/Word Wall activities to use during workshop time
These stories can also be used for reading at home or small group reading time with a teacher, an assistant or a parent helper.
Saves on copies but great with boosting reading skills!
P.S: your feedback is always appreciated!
