Based on the Readers/Writers Workshop structure used in ELA classrooms, this 4-visit CCSS-aligned unit supports the study of narrative fiction. Library Lessons begin with a Library orientation during the 2nd week of school followed by 3 new lesson visits every other week.
Lessons follow RWW structure of Warm-up, Mini-lesson, Readers Workshop, and Sharing/reflecting. Lesson activities are engaging for 6g students but short enough to allow plenty of time for them to browse for/choose books and READ during Readers Workshop.
Package contains complete support documents for each lesson, including worksheets, slide presentation, and links to 2 short videos (on both YouTube & Vimeo). Bonus items are Reading Record to paste into RW Notebook and a set of Multicultural & Global book spine labels to help students choose books.
