Noah's Ark Assembly for 5 – 7 year olds
(Version for 7 – 11 year olds also available off website)
This is the third in the Biblical Banter series – a script that has been written in 2 versions, for both younger (5 – 7 year olds) and older (7 – 11 year olds) children – both versions available separately off the website. Please note – this script is for the younger age group.
The writer, Sue Russell, has to date written three other scripts in this series, including The Creation, Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden and Jonah and the Whale. Sales of these products will dictate how many more biblical stories are written.
Duration: Around 15 - 20 minutes
Cast Size: 20 - 30 but easily adaptable up or down, depending on number of animals included.
Yes, we all enjoy 'Singin in the Rain' - but it's nice to have some sunshine too! With a little help from the audience the dove's task is accomplished - and we can end this particular assembly with the happiest of faces!
God: Ah! It’s good to see the sun!
(Sound of thunder)
God: But something tells me we don’t have too much time
(To Noah and his family) Come on everyone! To work!
(Animals go back to their places as Noah and his family busy themselves on stage, building the Ark)
Music 4 Whistle While You Work – from Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (Disney)
(Whole cast singing or whistling as pieces of Ark put together to create whole Ark – stage backdrop)
God: (Looking at completed Ark, and clapping hands together) Splendid!
Noah’s wife: Now we’re ready for that trip!
Music 5 Summer Holiday – Cliff Richards – verse plus chorus
(Noah’s family stand, with suitcases, beach towels and bucket and spades, singing and swaying to music happily)
(At the end of the song, God steps forward, wagging His finger)
God: No! No! It’s not going to be that kind of holiday!
(Everyone gasps in disappointment)
(God goes along line, removing beach towels and bucket and spades)
God: You’re not going to need any of these things!
(Loud crack of thunder)
(God points to Ark)
God: Now, I’d get on that Ark double quick if I were you!
(Noah and his family ‘board’ the Ark – see Production Notes)
Narrator: (To God) But about those animals?
God: Patience! We’re just coming to that bit!
(Pairs of animals line up at the side of the stage, coming on, one pair at a time, as per song, before going onto the Ark)
Music 6 Old Macdonald had a Farm (‘a Farm’ replaced by ‘an Ark’; and ‘a cow’ replaced by ‘two elephants’ … working through list of cast animals)
