Your students will love this Non-fiction Book Report Project!
Book Reports are a great way to encourage student reading! This non-fiction book report project and rubric is a creative and fun way for students to showcase a non-fiction book they loved!
If there’s one thing I have learned from teaching elementary students is that when they find something they love to read, do, or learn about, there’s no stopping them! It’s almost like a light bulb turning on and they become fascinated! I love seeing and encouraging that love of reading in my students!
The goal of this non-fiction book report product:
To encourage students to read more nonfiction books and learn about new subjects or topics. To share their new knowledge with the class using a visual aid or 3-D model and a True/False Quiz to test their peers.
✔For Elementary Grades – Second grade, Third grade, Fourth grade, Fifth grade
✔Great for Core Knowledge
✔Common Core Aligned
How to do it:
Having students read a non-fiction book as part of a fun book report gets them hooked! With this project, they get to pick their topic/subject matter and a book at their reading level. As part of the class presentation, they will create a 10 question true/false quiz to give the class after their presentation. They love having the chance to be the teacher and testing their peers.
They also get to create a model, poster, drawing, or other visual aid about their newly learned topic. Or they could use the Non-fiction Poster Organizer provided in this product.
Over the years, I've had students build a robot from a soda can (that actually moves!), build a Lego model of a castle, create a video of themselves going to a dinosaur museum and teaching us about all about dinosaurs. The beauty of this project is that the possible outcomes are endless! Enjoy and be sure to share all your student’s projects with me! I love hearing from my customers!
