Non-Fiction Reading Comprehension Passages

This packet consists of Non-fiction reading comprehension passages. The differentiated, cross-curricular passages have an Earth-inspired theme that focus on reading for comprehension, close reading, and making inferences. Don't tuck these passages away until Earth Day. Use them to motivate young readers, introduce/promote interest in reading Non-fiction, or simply to add pizzazz to reading instruction. Have reluctant male readers? Science-related passages are also a great way to motivate reluctant readers to read.

Children love science! Science-based activities add a sense of wonder and curiosity to learning. These science-based passages are a wonderful way to promote and support that natural sense of curiosity while providing a wonderful opportunity to strengthen reading comprehension skills.

• It can be used with any of the passages.
