Product Description
Everything you need to introduce your students to the genre of Non-Fiction is right here for you, in a “no prep” format. Included are:

• Non-Fiction Text Sources PowerPoint Presentation
• Non-Fiction Text Sources Keynote “Magic Move” Presentation
• Student worksheets:
o Picture/Text Matching Worksheet (Grades 1-3)
o Definition Match Worksheet (Grades 3-6)

The PowerPoint presentation defines and illustrates the following 10 Non-Fiction Text Sources:

• Textbooks
• Internet
• Encyclopedia
• Dictionary
• Thesaurus
• Biography
• Autobiography
• Periodical
• Newspapers
• Atlas

The Keynote “Magic Move” presentation allows students to sort an illustration of each text source with the correct term. Included is a student version of the Keynote presentation, as well as a teacher version, which serves as the “answer key.” Simply “AirDrop” the “student” version to student computers, and project the “teacher” version. Once students have completed their sort, the “Magic Move” animation is always a fun way for students to check their work. It is also a great way to integrate technology into your lesson.

Two worksheets are included, designed to make differentiating instruction in your classroom a breeze! In addition, the worksheets are a great way to either assess student understanding of Non-Fiction text sources, or use as either a classwork or homework review assignment (Answer key included).

This is the perfect introduction for any Non-Fiction Unit of Instruction. So often we concentrate on teaching Non-Fiction Text Features, yet it is just as important to provide students with an overview of resources available for this unit of study. Use these presentations/worksheets to encourage students to generalize and apply the skills they have mastered, by using these reference resources.

PLEASE NOTE: PowerPoint presentation is in .pdf format.
