This product includes resources I use to teach my class these nonfiction text structures: compare and contrast, cause and effect, problem and solution, sequence, and descriptive.
This resource includes:
6 Posters: You can put them up in your class to help students remember these 5 text structures.
Notebook Foldable (Glue-in): I use this to introduce the text structures. We glue it in their notebooks as a resource for the rest of the unit. My students have loved making up their own examples of each text structure. They fill out the graphic organizer then write a couple sentences to go along with it.
Introduction Worksheet: If you don’t use a notebook I included a worksheet that is the same as the notebook foldable.
Graphic Organizers: I use these with longer articles. We will read the article and fill out the graphic organizers as we go.
Sort: The sort includes the 5 text structures names, their definitions, and a statement that students could use to prove an article is that text structure. I print numbers on the back, so after they finish they can flip over the cards and check their answers.
Independent Practice Pages and Test: These pages have short passages for students to practice identifying the test structures. I use the last one as a test.
