Non-fiction Text Features
: Word Search Activity
It's a fun non-fiction text features word search!!
In this non-fiction text features themed puzzle, words are found forward, backward, up, down, and diagonally. I would consider it on the challenging side since students are looking for words in all directions. Keep this in mind when considering it for third grade and below.

If your students are like mine, they love these. I use them to introduce vocabulary, or even just give it as morning work. Use it however you would like in your classroom.
For this particular puzzle, you can have students use a nonfiction book to find the features in as they are solving the puzzle.
Also, it can be used as a literacy center if your students write about some of the words listed on the word search, or tell you the page number in a book where the features can be found. They could also use ten words in a sentence or state the definition to give you an idea of what they know about text features.
The words included are: asterisks, bulleted list, charts, graphs, glossary, heading, insets, labels, sidebars, time line, bold face words, caption, cut aways, italicized words, index, maps, table of contents
