This nonfiction text features scavenger hunt is a quick and easy check of your students' understanding of the main text features and can be quickly be printed and used right away with ANY text. The top of the first page is a little matching quiz, checking your students' knowledge of the definitions of the text features. In the second section, students find their own examples of text features in whatever book or article they are currently reading. Finally, students write in their own "cool facts" that they have learned from this text.
On the second version of this page, in place of the definitions quiz, you can edit it to include teacher found examples from the text. Then, students are asked to find a second example independently in the second section, just like on the first page. This still includes a section for students to write in "cool facts" they learned from the text, as a comprehension check for you!
This is great for teaching a whole group lesson but allowing the idea to be differentiated for independent practice at different reading levels!
