Product Description
This unit includes tips to teach non-fiction features you find in text during readers workshop. After the students learn about, read, and recognize these features, they apply them by creating their own book about non-fiction features. This book stays in their writing folder as a resource for the remainder of the school year. The culminating activity to bring all of their learning together is a research project on a chosen animal. Each student does research and writes their own book, using the non-fiction features in an authentic way, about their chosen topic. We end the unit with a publishing party!
