My students had a great time participating in this fun assessment! After exploring many nonfiction text features, the students wrote a nonfiction text about themselves. My students wrote autobiographies and made each chapter a different aspect of their lives. They used the lined pages for writing and the blank to add features such as a picture glossary, index, or dedication page. They were instructed to label each feature they used in the writing. When completed, I used this rubric to assess their ability to use nonfiction text features in writing! A fun wrap up to teaching text features!
