This is a multi-day project for students that integrates the writing of a standard five paragraph essay with science. A very high level of structure is included in writing the essay, which is perfect for students who struggle with writing. The topic, too, is interesting. The students are mean to learn about nondisjunction events in the classroom (see "Nondisjunction" in my products listings), then research at home. Peer-editing happens in class. Proper citations format is also taught and modeled.
Also included: Six examples of finished essays by students and grading rubrics to help you grade all those essays. Your principal will love the results of this project.
The best thing about this project is that it strengthens writing skills while teaching about Downs Syndrome, Klinefelter's Syndrome, and Turner's Syndrome.
