This slideshow accompanies a toolkit that contains nearly everything students need to understand, study, and analyze nonfiction, argumentation, and reading for information. Over 30 terms and techniques are defined and modeled; other sections include: an examination and models that explore how claims, reasons, and evidence work; a discussion on the types of acceptable evidence; a discussion on how to avoid poor logic, and a nonfiction worksheet that guides nonfiction analysis. The toolkit is built specifically to address Common Core standards.
Because of copyright laws, some examples of propaganda and news headlines have been removed, but you can replace them with your own examples.
The toolkit is here: Nonfiction / Argumentation Toolkit.
