This nonfiction graphic organizer can be used with any nonfiction text. It is great for close reading! Students focus in on vocabulary and answering a text dependent question provided by the teacher.
How I would use this graphic organizer:
1. Read a short text passage together with students
2. Students record new words on the graphic organizer and we use context clues and class discussion to discover the meaning of the words
3. Read the text passage again with students and have students visualize what they are reading- students sketch out their learning on the graphic organizer
4. Read the text passage a third time with students and pose a text dependent question for students to focus on- students use text evidence to answer the question on their graphic organizer
I hope this graphic organizer is helpful for you!
