Want a new center for your library? Do your students already love puzzles?
These nonfiction Dewey Decimal System call number puzzles may be just what you are looking for!
OBJECT OF THE GAME:
These puzzles provide a nonfiction call number on the top puzzle piece. Students need to find two additional puzzle pieces that have books that would fit into that Dewey category.
For example: Birds 598: (1) Adelie Penguins and (2) Red Robins would complete the puzzle. There are 25 puzzles. (I have provided two versions of the same Biography puzzle, one with call number “92” and one with call number “B,” depending on which call number you use in your library.) There are a couple of blank cards for you to customize. (Due to clipart restrictions, they are not editable online, but you could type up a call number and title in Word and glue them onto the puzzle before laminating them.)
I’ve included a simple Dewey chart, for reference, as well as an answer key. You might want to print an extra copy of the puzzles before you cut them apart, to serve as a “visual answer key” too.
