An independent reading journal that's easy to grade. This assignment focuses on textual analysis and response. Students respond to specific quotes from the text to ensure that journal entries are directly related to the material and involve thought rather than book report-style evaluation (i.e. "I really liked..."). Suitable for advanced classes such as Advanced Placement Language and Composition, as well as any social studies class. This assignment can also be easily adapted for fiction.
