This activity contains twelve half-page-sized cards, each with a non-fiction passage and accompanied by an illustration or photo. Each passage has 2 to 3 inference questions on the back. The activity is intended to help fourth through sixth grade readers who are having difficulty with non-fiction inferencing. There are 3 main types of inference questions in this activity: questions involving the entire passage, questions about a specific part of the passage, and questions about the author or illustrator. The passages are in larger print; the more difficult words are underlined and can be found on two identical Vocabulary Cards (also included). The inference questions are of medium difficulty, with a couple of challenging exceptions, indicated by a star symbol.
