PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

This is a great nonfiction literature circle role packet that includes a list of popular nonfiction books for middle school, descriptions/handouts for each role including: content connector, word wizard, discussion director, and project participator. There is an introduction list of items for the students in preparing them to begin their literature circles and the requirements that go with it. Students will also complete reading logs in their writing notebooks with a description that is also included. There is also a book project list and rubric included(mini portfolio that I have students put together in a file folder). All items are aligned with common core standards in 8th grade Language Arts, but can be easily adapted to any grade level! I focused on nonfiction, since there is such a huge emphasis on this in Ohio schools right now! From experience, the students absolutely love these nonfiction books, love the literature circle experiences, and enjoy the independent work opportunities for an end of the year project/grade! It is a great way to have them read in cooperative learning groups/discuss, but work independently on the reading assignments!
