Reading Nonfiction: Inferring, finding the main idea, identifying and analyzing themes, summarizing, analyzing literary nonfiction, identifying text structures, different types of text structures, analyzing text structures, comparing two works for text structure, paragraph analysis, analyzing the argument and/or claim, delineate the author’s claim, analyzing pros/cons of a subject/issue (conflicting viewpoints), author’s purpose, author’s word choices, figurative language, connotations, point of view, perspective, comparing different mediums, integrating and evaluating multiple sources in various formats, fictional vs. historical text, reading grade-level materials, citing examples from the text.
