This sheet can be used with any non-fiction reading (articles, newspapers, informational books, text books, etc). It has a before reading section, during reading section, and after reading section. The before reading section asks students to preview the text and make a prediction about what they think the reading will be about, as well as a box for them to record what they hope to find out about the topic. The during reading section has students record three questions they have as they read, and record three facts that were interesting or surprising to them. Finally, the after reading section has students identify what kind of non-fiction text they read, which text features it had, identify how two text features helped them understand the text, and finally, three vocabulary words that were critical to the text they read.
